Long week. Very long week. And of all the things that happened this week, this was probably (for me) the most disturbing:
Most troubling of all, perhaps, was a sentiment the expert said a member of Kushner’s team expressed: that because the virus had hit blue states hardest, a national plan was unnecessary and would not make sense politically. “The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy,” said the expert.
Jared Kushner scrapped a nationwide virus mitigation plan because the only people being hurt were in blue states. Jared Kushner decided dead Democrats would help Republicans. Jared Kushner is human garbage.
**The bottom line: **More than 30 million Americans could see their incomes drop 50%–75% when the unemployment benefits expire on Friday.
They won’t be back in Washington until Monday. What an utter, unconscionable failure by both Republicans and Democrats.
It was nearly six years ago that a grand jury declined to indict Darren Wilson, the white police officer who shot Brown, a Black 18-year-old. Civil rights leaders and Brown’s mother had hoped that Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell, the county’s first Black prosecutor, would reopen the case after he took office in January 2019.
This is a terrible decision. It’s horrifying in light of the current climate. Very interested to see what the reaction in Ferguson is going to be.
Trump just pumped a company called Regeneron during his Covid press conference. Would love to see what their stock trades looked like yesterday. Probably same as Kodak’s. He made sure to say their name twice.
Can’t stop thinking about proportionality bias.
The US is officially in a recession now. Here are a few headlines:
And amid all of this, Trump just suggested the November election be delayed.
Another 1,400 people died today. If this continues apace, with about 20 weeks left in the year, we’ll have close to 350,000 dead by January 2021.
RBG had a medical procedure today and won’t be released from the hospital until the end of next week. This fills me with a nameless dread.
My eyes haven’t stopped watering for days because of allergies. I’ve never been hit like this before. Whatever is in my eyes looked at the prescription Zyrtec I took and laughed heartily before thumbing my eyes harder.
When Trump was pressed by CNN's Kaitlan Collins about his words of support for a doctor who downplayed masks and suggested alien DNA was used in medical treatments, he cut the briefing short and stormed out.
Haha! Kaitlan Collins is a boss. IIRC, this isn't the first time that a tough question from a female reporter led to Trump bailing out of a press conference like a big angry baby.
